Do Women Need More Sleep Than Men?

The short answer...yes! Research shows women experience less quality, and more interrupted sleep compared to men. Some reasons for this is caregiving responsibilities in the night, increased incidence in restless leg syndrome, and pain from things like periods and pregnancy. Also, hormone shifts alter a women's circadian rhythm. In the second half of life things like hot flashes, night sweats contribute to insomnia. It's not all in your head! Prioritizing sleep and seeking help will positively influence almost every area of your life, and is worthy of the best efforts.
